| A RES, or ARES (Alternative Retail Electric Supplier), is a company that procures or generates power, which Ameren Illinois Utilities in turn delivers to customers in its territories. AIU passes the cost of electric supply, dollar for dollar with no mark-up, through to its customers. Retail Electric Suppliers must be certified by the Illinois Commerce Commission (ICC) and registered with Ameren in order to serve as suppliers to you.
